I’ve been craving to do a traditional piece for a very long time. (They just feel so good.) Being very comfortable with a wacom and photoshop, I’ve been absurdly nervous about playing with paints.
Failing doesn’t feel that good. This past June, I was cornered into doing a fully traditional piece.
I had a very special opportunity to go to the IMC, the Illustration Master Class in Amherst, headed
by the lovely Rebecca Guay. I was given the opportunity by Brian Bowes, whom I’m very thankful to.
This is the piece I made there. Some of the venerable people that I got to spend the week with were
Donato Giancola, Rebecca Guay, Irene Gallo, Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell, Charles Vess, Scott Fisher,
Dan Dos Santos and Greg Manchess. This opportunity has been exceedingly valuable. -Z
